The BCCI is taking no chance regarding the safety of the players amid the coronavirus pandemic as they have prepared 240-page Standard Operating Procedure for IPL 2020 in UAE. BCCI’s 240 pages long SOP answers everything that the franchises and players will need in UAE as they get ready for the IPL 2020.

According to sources, the SOP has illustrations and diagrams of where players will stand at the opening ceremony to what’s the distance between them and the officials to how the presentation will be done after every match and at the end of the tournament.

The SOP contains every detail from the time the players assemble in hotels in India to when they come back from the tournament. From two coronavirus tests to players’ arrangements, the SOP contains every detail and the presentation ceremony details are diagrammatically represented and worked out.

According to the report, any player or official will not be allowed to leave the bio-secure bubble once he enters it after two coronavirus tests. BCCI have followed established global templates and have consulted multiple experts in preparing the SOP.

Franchises will be given the SOP after Sunday when the final dates for the tournament will be announced and they can add their suggestions to the SOP and enhance security but cannot dilute it.

Brijesh Patel, speaking to indiatoday.in, said the dates for IPL 2020 is confirmed and will be officially announced on August 2.

“The IPL will be held from September 19 to November 8. It’s official. The announcement will be made today,” Brijesh Patel said.

“The Governing Council meeting will happen within a week,” Patel said.

“All three venues (in the UAE) will be hosting the tournament.”

The cash-rich league was originally scheduled to take place between March and May. However, the BCCI had to suspend IPL 2020 indefinitely in the light of the coronavirus pandemic.

IPL’s Governing Council will meet on August 2 to give a final shape to the schedule and other arrangements for the eagerly-awaited T20 showpiece to be held in the UAE this year. All the eight franchises will get a clear picture of the tournament’s modalities during the meeting.

It is expected that most of the franchises will send their recce teams to the UAE to check out the facilities as well as the bio-secure environment that can be created, there are concerns that remain, including accommodation plan and catering services.
