The S&P BSE Sensex surged 370 points to 36,691 levels while the Nifty50 index was hovering around the 10,800-mark. Bajaj Finance, up 4 per cent, and Tata Steel, up 3 per cent, were the top Sensex gainers. Besides, IndusInd Bank rose 2 per cent. ICICI Bank was also trading 2 per cent higher after the bank’s board gave approval to plans to raise upto Rs 15,000 crore to support business growth.
Moreover, TCS was also trading up ahead of its June quarter results announcement. According to analysts, the company may post up to 7 per cent decline in revenue in constant currency (CC) terms on a sequential basis owing to anticipated pressure in multiple segments due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
The Nifty sectoral indices were trading in the green, led by Nifty Metal index, up 3 per cent.
